The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is proud to announce that a paper about secret evidence will be presented at the American Bar Association (ABA) Annual Meeting in Chicago. The paper, entitled "The Use And Abuse Of Secret Evidence," will be presented by Albert Mokhiber, Esq., Vice Chair of ADC and member of the Board of Directors. This paper was written by Ms. Nisreen Baroudi who spent the summer working as an intern with ADC. Baroudi is currently a third-year law student at the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA. The presentation will be held on Sunday, August 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. as part of a panel discussion entitled "Use (or Abuse) Of Secret Evidence In US Immigration Cases." The panel, which will take place in the Georgian Conference Room of The Drake Hotel, is part of the ABA Section of International Law and Practice meeting. Other panel members will include Mr. Adam Schwartz of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Malea Kiblan, Esq. who has represented several secret evidence victims, and William J. Haddad, Esq. The panel will be moderated by Judge Samuel J. Bettar, III of the Cooke County Circuit Court and attended by an ADC Legal Advisor. ADC urges all members, friends, attorneys, law students, civil rights and immigration law advocates in the Chicago area to attend this highly valuable presentation and discussion. ADC congratulates Nisreen Baroudi on this outstanding accomplishment. |
