Washington, DC, September 13-The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) has condemned the horrifying series of attacks that took place on Tuesday on the World Trade Center towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Arab Americans, like all Americans, are shocked and profoundly grieved by the loss of lives and angered by such cowardly acts of terror. We stand committed to helping our country get through this nightmare. ADC believes that in the aftermath of such a horrendous tragedy we must join hands and work together, in order to support each other in this time of need. Therefore, ADC would like to urge all Arab Americans to continue to assist in efforts to bring comfort and aid to those who are in need. We ask that you take note of the following events and activities that ADC, along with the Arab-American community is organizing: 1. President George W. Bush has declared Friday, September 14, 2001 as a national day of mourning. ADC urges the entire Arab American community to participate fully with their fellow Americans on this national day of mourning. 2. ADC has established a special account for donations to the victims of the attacks. ADC urges people of goodwill, from around the world, to contribute what they can to help the families of the victims. The special account has been set up through the ADC Research Institute (Federal tax identification number 52-1252206). The ADCRI is a 501(c)(3) educational and charitable foundation, and contributions to it are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. Checks should be made payable to ADCRI - September 11 Victims, and mailed to ADC, 4201 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20008. 3. All community members are encouraged to donate blood and to offer support and assistance where needed. |
