ADC Position Announcement: President of ADC

 

A Search Committee established by the Board of Directors of ADC is soliciting CVs of qualified candidates for the position of President of ADC. The search is open until the end of August. Description of Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervision of all daily operations of the organization and implementation of special projects and campaigns as directed by the Chairperson.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee daily operation of organization including supervision of all department directors and other employees and ensure coordination among departments.
  2. Develop and implement office procedures for maximum productivity and cost effectiveness.
  3. Control all accounting functions in accordance with applicable legal requirements and policies established by the Executive Committee of the Board.
  4. Develop and manage fund-raising projects on behalf of the organization.
  5. Develop major projects, campaigns and events in furtherance of the policies and priorities of ADC as defined by the Chairman and Board of Directors.
  6. Design programs and projects to further the overall aims of the organization, such as conventions, membership drives, public relations campaigns, etc.
  7. Represent the organization at meetings, receptions, forms, etc. as necessary.
  8. The President is accountable to the Board and is supervised by the Chairperson of the Board.

Description of Qualifications:

Professional Skills:

Political: sensitivity to the goals and priorities of the organization and solid working knowledge of the civil rights and other community-related issues; Communication: ability to write and speak well to large audiences, and to deal with media; Fundraising: track record or credibility to attract money.

Personal Skills:

Passion: strong drive and commitment to the goals of ADC; Temperament: even temperament in dealing with the membership, the media, and the outside world; A strong vision oriented towards the broad goals and objectives of the organization, and ideological commitment to consensus building.

Other Skills:

Management: ability to define broad goals and objectives, decision making and effective organizational skills, follow-up, and, delegation of responsibility; Physical Energy: vigorous and strong health that permits a long and active daily schedule and rigorous travel around the country and overseas.
