ADC Joins LCCR's Dutch-Muslim Dialogue in the Netherlands
Washington DC | November 1, 2006 | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is pleased to be participating in the Diversity Dialogues Conference, "Sharing Ideas, Building Bridges: A Dutch-US Muslim Dialogue," being held in the Netherlands from October 31- November 3.
The Conference is being co-sponsored by the US Embassy in the Netherlands and the Education Fund of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR). ADC is part of the LCCR delegation and is being represented by Hon. Mary Rose Oakar, ADC President, and Kareem Shora, National Executive Director. ADC is an active organizational member of LCCR and over 50 million Americans belong to organizations that comprise LCCR.
The 'Diversity Dialogues' project was conceived by US Ambassador to the Netherlands Roland Arnall to foster Dutch and US relationships by building a full and more in-depth understanding between the Dutch and US societies around a variety of issues related to diversity.
The conference is a people-to-people exchange with Dutch and US Muslims focusing on identity, civic participation, media portrayal, youth development, women’s issues and economic opportunity. The format of the conference will be highly interactive and participatory. The methodology will be based on conversations facilitated through a series of structured small and large group sessions. The sessions will be designed to build upon one another to deepen understanding of the topic areas as well as the interpersonal dynamics.
