MEDIA AND PUBLICATIONS INTERN
ADC is looking for interns to work in its Media and
Publicationsdepartments.
These internships provide valuable and substantive experience in journalism,
public relations, and publishing. FullBtime undergraduate stipends
are $1500 and graduate internships are $2000 for the summer program.
Internships can also be used for college credit, in which case there
is no stipend.
Responsibilities:

Monitor
media, both print and electronic
-
Write and take photographs for ADC Times, ADC=s 24-page bi-monthly
magazine
-
Write letters responding to biased press coverage

Proof-read press releases, articles and letters
-
Research and write articles
-
Respond to public and media information requests
-
File
newspaper clippings and letters
-
Organize book and video libraries
-
The summer Publications intern is responsible for overseeing
and editing Intern Perspectives, a journal reflecting on the
personal side of the intern experience.

Energetic individuals who have a sense of how the media work
and are committed to challenging stereotypes of Arabs and Arab Americans.

Solid writing skills
-
Good organizational skills
-
Journalism majors preferred, but not required

Experience writing for publication

Preference given to graduate students, seniors and juniors

Proficiency in Windows, Word Perfect, Internet, Nexis; some knowledge
of html, photoshop, and quark would be ideal. Openness to learning
new skills.
Publications interns learn graphic design skills,
using the latest publications software. They will hone their writing
skills and learn to work with publications from concept to final printed
material.
Schedule:
Summer schedule is full-time and includes an educational
component on Fridays. Fall and Spring hours are negotiable .
