ORGANIZING INTERN


The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee's Organizing Department is looking for one or two interns. The internship provides valuable and substantive experience in grassroots community organizing, political action, and general office procedures. Undergraduates receive a $1500 stipend for the summer program; the stipend for graduate students is $2000. For the school year the stipend is prorated.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Organizing Director with work involving the national network of local chapters.
  • Monitor and mobilize activists to work on projects, issues, action alerts, and campaigns.
  • Work closely with ADC chapters and compile reports on their activities.
  • Assist in chapter mailings and respond to chapter requests.
  • Maintain and update chapter database.
  • Respond to inquiries from ADC members.
  • Attend conferences and speakers in Washington, DC.
  • Help organize local and national events.
  • Assist with running ADC's annual Convention in June

Skills Required:

  • Experience in community and/or campus organizing
  • Good communicating skills, both written and oral
  • Proficiency in word processing and Windows

Schedule:
Full-time during the summer. Schedule is negotiable during the school semester.
