TAKE ACTION: Commend President Obama for His Stance on Religious  Freedom

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | August 16, 2010 – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) welcomes President Barack Obama’s statement supporting religious freedom. More specifically, as The President stated “Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country…And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances.  This is America.  And our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. ”

The comments by the President refer to the development of the Cordoba Community Center in New York City.  ADC stands firm that all Americans have the constitutional right to be treated equally in practicing their religion, and that freedom includes the right to construct a community center in Lower Manhattan.
