ADC Supports Palestinian Self-Determination

Washington, DC | | September 23, 2011 – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) calls upon President Barack Obama and his administration not to veto the quest for Palestinian statehood. Moments ago, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas submitted the official request before the United Nations General Assembly, marking a historic moment for the Palestinian people and the entire international community. Supporting Palestinian self-determination would be a significant opportunity for the United States to exercise its leadership in moving forward towards a just and lasting peace in the Middle East-- which cannot be achieved without the recognition of a Palestinian state. A veto by the US would impact America's credibility in the region and in the international arena.

NOTE TO EDITORS: The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), which is non-profit, non-sectarian and non-partisan, is the largest grassroots Arab-American civil rights and civil liberties organization in the United States. It was founded in 1980 by former Senator James Abourezk. ADC has a national network of chapters and members in all 50 states.
