Arab Americans have had a significant presence in the US for generations. Still, anti-Arab discrimination and negative depictions of Arabs are prevalent in mainstream media.
ADC is working to change that.
Turaath reflects ADC's goal to empower and celebrate the Arab American community.
This event happens once a year, and only in DC.
Take advantage of this one night to come together and celebrate Arab heritage and culture.
Join ADC and the ADC Women's Initiative for the second annual Turaath: Celebrating Arab Culture in America event on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the historic Lincoln Theatre on U Street in Washington, DC. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show will begin at 7:30pm!
This year's program features live music and dance. The Alwan Arab Music Ensemble will showcase classical, folk, and popular Arab music with virtuoso Amir ElSaffar and vocalists George Ziadeh and Lubana Al Quntar. Also featured is the Two Rivers Arab Jazz Ensemble, along with Traditional & Modern Arab Dance. Read the full program
