Tom Hayes

The "Tom Hayes Award for Outstanding Contribution" will be awarded annually and will honor artists from all types of media whose creative work expands public understanding of the human issues in the Middle East. In addition to being of relevant subject matter, submissions must creatively address the challenges in distributing their work to the American public.

January 25, 2003

ADC presented filmmaker Tom Hayes with the inaugural award for his documentary People and the Land.

This award recognizes the hurdles that Tom Hayes overcame to film this movie in Israeli-occupied land, in addition to the challenges he faced in distributing it while being attacked by pro-Israelis right here in America.

People and the Land

"If you only see one movie about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, see People and the Land"

"A film every taxpayer MUST see"

What can be done when civilized societies differ and their differences are profound? Despite incremental progress, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip continues to cut the fabric of this small part of world like a knife, dividing everyone and everything.

Award-winning filmmaker Tom Hayes crosses borders and check-points to uncover the conflicting opinions and policies of the people who seem unwilling to share this land-and yet are unable to let go. Created at great personal risk by Tom Hayes and his crew.
