Arab Voters Can Make a Difference!
New Jersey has one of the nation’s largest Arab-American populations and northern Virginia is home to one of the top 5 metropolitan concentrations of Arab-Americans. It is no surprise that the New York Times recently reported that Arab-Americans voters “may be key” in the election. If we want politicians to care about our issues, we need to show them that Arab-Americans Vote!
Know Your Rights
You have a right to vote! You have a right to a secret ballot! Do not let anyone intimidate you at the polling booth! Call ADC at (202)244-2990 for immediate assistance or after you’ve cast your ballot to report any problems.
Virginia
Poll open at 6:00AM and close at 7:00PM. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO VOTE IF YOU’RE IN LINE BY 7PM.

Additional, you’ll vote for your member of the House of Delegates. Depending on where you live, you may be asked to vote for local offices along with ballot measures.

Virginia’s deadline to update your address or register to vote for the Nov. 7th election was on Oct. 16. If you did not register by Oct. 16, we still encourage you to register today for upcoming elections.
If you believe you are registered to vote but your name is not on the local register, you may cast a provisional ballot. If your name is in the local register but your right to vote is challenged, ask for the Affirmation of Eligibility form. If you sign this form, you have a right to vote.
ID requirement: Virginia DMV-Issued Photo ID; U.S. Passport; Employee Photo ID; Student Photo ID from Virginia College/University; Military Photo ID; Any other Photo ID issued by the U.S., Virginia, or a political or local subdivision in Virginia; Virginia Voter Photo ID.
A Photo ID that is NOT expired for more than 12 months is valid. If you are registered to vote but do not have any valid ID, you may get a free voter photo ID at any general registrar’s office. If you forget your photo ID, you may cast a provisional ballot and submit proof of ID to local election board no later than noon on Monday, November 13 by fax, e-mail, mail, or in-person.
Language assistance? If you need someone to communicate with officials and read the ballot for you in Arabic, you have a right to bring a translator.
Mistake on the ballot? If you accidentally voted for the wrong person, do not cast your ballot and ask for a new ballot.

All New Jersey voters will cast ballots for the gubernatorial race below (Lieutenant Governor runs on the same ballot, and the Attorney General is appointed by the governor). You’ll vote for your member in the State Senate and General Assembly. Depending on where you live, you may be asked to vote for local offices along with ballot measures

If you believe you are registered to vote but your name is not on the local register, you may cast a provisional ballot. If your name is in the local register but your right to vote is challenged, ask for an affidavit. If you sign this form, you have a right to vote.
ID requirement: First-time voters are required to provide Photo ID, which may be NJ driver’s license, Military or other Government ID, Student or Job ID, Store Membership Card, United States Passport. If you forget your ID, you may cast a provisional ballot and bring ID to the respective county office within 48 hours of voting. Even if you are not a first-time voter, you may be asked to provide ID.
