 ADC Announces a Convention Panel Discussion:

The Effects of Systemic Violence on Women of Color” 

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | May 21, 2015 – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) announces a Convention panel discussion entitled,  “The Effects of Systemic Violence on Women of Color.”

The panel discussion will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10:30AM-12:00PM as part of the 35th Anniversary ADC National Convention  in Washington, DC.

Dynamic women from diverse communities of color will discuss systemic violence targeting women of color. They will address the direct and indirect effects of hate crimes, police brutality, and discrimination on women of color.  

Panelists will include:

Darakshan Raja
Helga Herz Fellow, Washington Peace Center 

Darakshan Raja is a community organizer, anti-gender-based violence advocate, and community-based researcher. She works with the Peace Center to support grassroots organizing on anti-racism and criminal justice initiatives. Read Darakshan Raja’s full bio here.

Andrea Carcamo-Cavazos, J.D. 
Assistant Director for Public Policy, National Latin@ Network

Ms. Carcamo-Cavazos is in charge of the development and implementation of National Latin@ Network’s public policy agenda to prevent and eliminate domestic violence by working with individual and institutional stakeholders from across the country. Read Andrea Caracamo-Cavazos’ full bio here. 

Dr. Roselyn V. Aker-Black
Adjunct Professor, Chicago School of Professional Psychology

Dr. Roselyn V. Aker-Black, Psy.D has 10 years of experience in providing psychological services to children and families. Read Dr. Aker-Black’s full bio here. 

Fatina Abdrabboh, Esq.
Director, ADC Michigan
