ADC Calls for Release of Hostages in Iraq

December 5, 2005
Washington, DC — The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) calls for the release of four members of the Christian Peacemaker Teams who were abducted and held hostage in Iraq.
The Christian Peacemaker Teams are committed to providing a nonviolent alternative to political violence in Palestine, Iraq, and other countries. They have worked closely with Iraqi human rights organizations and lived alongside the people of Iraq. In addition, they have conducted non-violence training and enabled the voices of ordinary Iraqis to be heard. For more information on the Christian Peacemaker Teams visit http://www.cpt.org/
ADC President Mary Rose Oakar said, “On behalf of the Arab-American community, I appeal for the release of the Christian Peacemakers. They are good friends to the Iraqi people and the Muslim community. Their nonviolence work, in unity with Iraqis, provides a much-needed bridge between the Iraqi and the American people.”
