ADC Calls on Community to Support Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Washington, DC, August 31
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) calls on all people to extend a hand of support to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the Gulf Coast earlier this week. Hundreds are anticipated dead in the States of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, and thousands more are injured. In addition, more than 1 million residents remain without electricity, and some without clean drinking water. It is unknown how many residents have been displaced. According to officials, it could be weeks, if not months, before most will be able to return to their homes. The damage to the Gulf Coast is estimated at $25 billion.
