ADC Condemns Senator Rubio for calling Palestinians terrorists

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | February 26, 2016 – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) condemns Senator Marco Rubio for making anti-Arab comments during the Republican Presidential debate last night.

During the debate, Senator Rubio claimed that Palestinians “teach their four year old children that killing Jews is a glorious thing.”  Rubio also alleged that “a deal between Israel and the Palestinians is not possible” because “you are dealing with terrorists.”

This bigotry and slander of Palestinians is completely unacceptable, particularly from a United States Senator and someone running to be the President of the United States.  In addition to promoting a racist ideology, the Senator Rubio’s attack on Palestinian children also demonstrates a conscious refusal to understand the reality of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The tragic reality is that many Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli Occupation Forces and settlers. According to Defense for Children International, Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian Gaza Strip in the summer of 2014 killed 2,220 Palestinians, including 535 children.  If anything, the families who survived the attacks probably teach their children how to take cover to try to avoid Israeli missiles, although evidence and testimonies collected by DCIP showed that there was no safe place for children in Gaza during the Israeli assault.

ADC demands that Senator Rubio issue an apology the Palestinian-American community and call’s on the GOP to condemn all racism, including this anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian hate rhetoric.
