ADC Joins ITVS in

Washington, DC | April 7, 2008 | www.adc.org | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) joins Independent Television Service (ITVS) as the national NGO partner of ITVS‘ screenings of the documentary ,“A Dream In Doubt,” through its Community Cinema Program. ITVS is organizing screenings of “A Dream in Doubt” in approximately 30 different markets in April leading up to the film‘s airing on PBS‘ Independent Lens on May 20, 2008. Each of the screenings will be free of charge, and open to the general public (see complete list below.)
“A Dream in Doubt” is an immigrant story of survival as a wave of deadly hate crimes terrorizes the Sikh American community in Phoenix, Arizona following the attacks of September 11. The hour long documentary follows the family of Balbir Singh Sodhi, a Sikh American who was killed in the first post September 11 hate crime murder. Mr. Singh Sodhi was killed at his gas station by a man who claimed he was rooting out a terrorist. “A Dream in Doubt” travels to Sodhi‘s hometown and talks with Rana Sodhi, Balbir‘s brother, to explore post-September 11 America from his perspective, telling a personal story of national tragedy, murder, family, community, and the American Dream. ADC Director of Communications Laila Al-Qatami said, “ADC is happy to join and support ITVS and ‘A Dream in Doubt‘ filmmakers Tami Yeager and Preetmohan Singh.” Al-Qatami continued, “The documentary has an extremely important message, it demonstrates how courage and hope have the power to overcome hate. ADC is pleased to be a partner in these upcoming screenings and to support this excellent documentary. We hope you will be able to join one of the 30 screenings across the nation or watch the film on PBS on May 20.” “A Dream in Doubt” is a co-production of TRY Productions and the Independent Television Service (ITVS), in association with the Center for Asian American Media. www.adreamindoubt.org | adreamindoubt@gmail.com | PBS Trailer: http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/video/?video_id=82 SCREENING DATES
