1. Federal Criminal Civil Rights - Florida and/or U.S. District Courts of Florida
Summary: An Arab-American currently located in San Rafael, CA is seeking an attorney to assist with a federal civil rights case concerning deprivation of rights under color of law in Florida. Complainant has already filed a civil rights complaint with the DOJ criminal section alleging false arrest in his home, excessive use of force by Sheriff officers, and kidnapping of his children on 11/23/2012 in Broward County, FL. Complainant has sent ADC supporting documents including letters to DOJ, Broward County Sheriff’s Office Event Report, Medical Report from Hospital, Document showing invalid address for service, Broward County Court Order Declining the Sheriff Department’s charges against him, and Broward County Court Order granting him custody of his children.
Summary: An Arab-American worked for a Hilton Doubletree hotel in Houston, TX from April through August 2014, when he resigned under pressure from HR. During this time he experience harassment and hostile work environment from the general manager, despite good reports from his direct supervisor and team members. Complainant said that the general manager would routinely eat and drink at the hotel bar and harass him while intoxicated, asking him about his religion and other personal matters. He filed a complaint with the EEOC in August and has an ongoing case. He said the Hilton’s lawyers offered him $5,000 to settle, but he declined.
