Washington DC | April 19, 2007 | www.adc.org | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is pleased to announce Arab-American Congressman Nick J. Rahall (D-WV) will speak at the Annual National Convention during the Capitol Hill luncheon. The luncheon will take place from 12-2pm at the Washington Court Hotel on Friday, June 8.
The Capitol Hill luncheon is an opportunity for Convention attendees to hear from members of Congress. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) is the luncheon‘s confirmed keynote speaker, also attending is former Senator Mike Gravel (D-AK), who recently declared his intent to run for president.
Congressman Rahall, whose family settled in West Virginia after emigrating from Lebanon, recently traveled to the Middle East with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The congressional delegation visited Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.
First elected in 1976, Rahall is currently serving his 16th term. In addition to his work on US relations with the Middle East, Rahall is well known for his expertise in national policies relating to transportation, infrastructure, technology, energy and the environment. He currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources and as a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
NOTE: The Capitol Hill luncheon will take place at the Washington Court Hotel, all other ADC Convention events will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
