The Convention will also host very substantive panels, tackling the issues impacting the Arab American community. The Civil Rights panel will take a look at the state of Civil Rights 50 Years after the Signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Academic experts and community leaders will provide insight to Arab American identity, with two distinct and unique panels planned to address the issue.
On Friday, the program will open with a conversation about boycott, divestment and sanctions, the session is titled “The BDS Movement: A Palestinian Struggle to Achieve a Lasting Peace based on International Law, Justice, and Freedom.“ On Saturday two sessions will explore the changing world of activism. Experts will discuss “Social Activism in the 21st Century: Facilitating Change through the media and Web Roots.” The following session will discuss, “Activism in the Arts: How to Create Change through Artistic Expression.”
On Sunday, a great line up of speakers will present at the session titled, “Paradigm Shift: New Thinking on Israel/Palestine.” This will be followed by the Annual Palestine Luncheon.
Thanks to a generous donor, scholarships are available to college students who wish to attend the Convention! Many students have taken advantage of this, and few spots remain open. The scholarship covers registration expenses, it does not include travel/lodging. If you are interested please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Students will also be given an opportunity to take part in a session aimed at cultivating their skill. On Friday afternoon a team of activists will present at a session titled, “Activism on College Campuses: Best Practices for Campus Activism.“
