House Judiciary Chair Conyers, Senator Hagel, Congressman Kucinich Confirmed Speakers at ADC National Convention

Washington, DC | April 21, 2008 | www.adc.org | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is pleased to announce Congressman John Conyers (D-MI); Chairman of the US House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary, Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE); member of the Senate committees on Foreign Relations; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Intelligence and Rules, and Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH); former Democratic presidential candidate, have confirmed their participating as featured speakers during the upcoming ADC Annual National Convention. Each of the three prominent members of the US Congress will speak during different events during the Convention.
Senator Hagel will be the featured speaker at a reception for the NAAA-ADC PAC. This fundraiser, open only to ADC members, will take place at the same hotel as the ADC National Convention. Hagel will speak to ADC members on the importance of political involvement from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on Friday June 13.
Congressman Kucinich will be the featured speaker during the Friday Gala Banquet Dinner, one of the ADC Convention‘s anchor events which will be held from 7:30 to 11:00 pm. Following Kucinich‘s remarks, International singer Chantal Chamandy will give a special 90-minute multilingual performance entitled, “Beladi.” In September 2007, Chantal was joined by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra in a sold-out performance of the same show at the feet of the Great Sphinx in Egypt. Congressman Conyers will be the featured speaker during another ADC Convention anchor event; the Annual Civil Rights Awards Luncheon, “The Legacy of MLK & RFK; 40 Years Later.” This will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 pm on Saturday June 14th and will also feature the ADC Pro-bono Attorney of the Year Award, the ADC Friend in Government Award, a Special Commemoration of the Alex Odeh murder, and a Special Recognition of the L.A. Eight Victory after 20 Years with the one-time ADC Lifetime Commitment to Justice Award.
