HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein to Attend National Convention

Washington, DC | June 4, 2007 | www.adc.org | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is proud to announce that HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein will accept the ADC Global Leadership Award on behalf of her husband HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum at this year’s Annual National Convention during the Saturday June 9, Gala Dinner Banquet beginning at 7:30 pm.
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed recently established the $10 billion Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation that will source and manage research programs and centers, as well as provide scholarships, leadership programs, and research grants in order to promote human development. ADC is proud to host HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, and present HH Sheikh Mohammed with the Global Leadership Award.
HRH Princess Haya is the first Arab and first woman to become a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations World Food Program. Her appointment was supported by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, making her the second Goodwill Ambassador ever for the WFP. She is also Chairperson of the Dubai International Humanitarian City — DIHC. As a long-time athlete in equestrian sports, she is the first Arab woman to compete in equestrian at the Olympic, world, and continental championship levels. She was elected on May 1st 2006 as President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and therefore became the first Arab to occupy this international position. She graduated from St Hilda‘s College, Oxford University with an Honors Degree BA MA, in P.P.E. (Politics, Philosophy and Economics.)
The 2007 ADC Annual National Convention will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, from June 8-10, 2007.
