The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is seeking to retain the services of a Media Research Consultant. This is a contract position, be based in Washington, D.C. The primary objective of the position is to lead a tracking project which documents and records anti-Arab and Islamophobic bias in the media and from elected officials. The tracking project will serve as a public resource tool which will highlight the prevalence of bias coming from media outlets, public officials and elected officials. The position will report directly to the ADC National President.

About the Organization

ADC, which is non-profit, non-sectarian and non-partisan, is the largest grassroots Arab-American civil rights and civil liberties organization in the United States. It was founded in 1980 by former Senator James Abourezk. ADC protects civil rights, promotes mutual understanding, and preserves the cultural heritage of Arab Americans.

Core Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily and document all incidents of anti-Arab sentiment and Islamophobia coming from media outlets, elected officials, and public officials
  • Prepare regular Quarterly reports for public distribution related to findings
  • Work with staff to organize regular press conferences, and public announcements highlighting findings
  • Publish annual report with findings, analysis and conclusions 
  • Coordinate with ADC Department heads to assist in implementing findings accordingly to existing work and projects
  • Monitor and Track anti-BDS and Anti-Zionism campaigns in the media and on college campuses
  • Help in media outreach and promote ADC work and accomplishments specifically Middle Eastern/Arab Media through Arabic language articles and interviews.


  • Understanding about the history of anti-Arab sentiment and Islamophobia in the U.S. and worldwide
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, graduate degree preferred
  • Fluence in Arabic – including ability to speak to media outlets in Arabic
  • Experience in working with field of Arab and Muslim advocacy 
  • Understanding of the Arab and Muslim American communities
  • Advanced research skills, including social media tracking 
  • Ability to navigate the space of civil rights and community advocacy 
  • Self-driven and ability to take initiative on development of ideas and projects.
  • A commitment to civil rights and social justice and understanding of issues impacting the Arab American community
