Opening Week: Come out and support Oscar Nominated Palestinian Film Omar!

Washington,DC | www.adc.org | February 24, 2014- Hany Abu-Assad’s new Palestinian film Omar is now playing in over 40 US cities! The Oscar nominated film has received great reviews from critics and those in the industry, including Matt Dillion who called it, “film of the year.”

We are working hard to mobilize our communities for a strong opening week.  Early Box Office results will dictate how long Omar plays in theaters – so, we ask you to please rally as many of your people as possible to see Hany Abu-Assad’s highly acclaimed Palestinian film.

Omar is unique as a film in that it allowed the story of Palestinians to be told as it should be: by Palestinians.  Omar is the first Palestinian feature film to be financed almost entirely by Palestinians. In fact, 95% of Omar’s financing came from private Palestinian donations.

At ADC’s private screening of Omar last week,  Director Hany Abu-Assad noted the symbolic importance of the film being accepted in the film industry as Palestinian film and expressed hope that the film will help people to better understand the plight of the Palestinians.

Please come out to your local theaters and support this Palestinian achievement!
