Washington, DC | www.adc.org | September 11, 2017 – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is proud to announce that Palestinian rights activist, scholar and journalist Phyllis Bennis will be the recipient of the 2017 Rachel Corrie Award presented at ADC’s 37th National Convention.

The Rachel Corrie Award is an annual award given to a person who shows dedication and commitment to a just and lasting peace in Palestine. This year’s award will be given to Ms. Bennis in recognition of her commitment to Palestinian self-determination, and her decades of honest reporting, activism, legal work, and advocacy in support of the Palestinian people.
ADC will present the award to Ms. Bennis at the Palestine Luncheon on Sunday, September 24th, 2017.
ADC invites you to register for the Convention and join us in honoring Ms. Bennis and other community leaders on September 21st -24th in Washington D.C.
About Phyllis Bennis:
Phyllis Bennis directs the New International Project at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. and is a Fellow at the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam. She specializes in international law and human rights, particularly involving U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.
Phyllis has been active in the Palestinian rights movements for decades. In 2001, she was a co-founder of the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (formerly the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation), and serves on the national board of Jewish Voice for Peace. She has advised senior UN officials on Palestine, co-chaired the UN’s International Coordinating Network on Palestine, and in 2014 and again in 2016 was shortlisted to become the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. In countless media appearances and public lectures, Phyllis is one of the most vocal advocates of Palestinian self-determination and opponents of Israeli occupation and apartheid.
Phyllis writes widely on Middle East issues and is interviewed frequently in U.S. and global media. Her books include the best-selling Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: A Primer.
