Veteran Civil Rights Leader to Address ADC Convention

Washington, DC | May 31, 2007 | www.adc.org | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is delighted to announce that well-known and respected veteran civil rights leader Wade Henderson; President and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) will address the ADC Annual National Convention during the Saturday, June 9 Gala Dinner Banquet, from 7:30-10:30 pm. The Annual National Convention will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, June 8 to 10.
ADC is a key and active organizational member of LCCR and the only member organization that represents the Arab-American community within the nation‘s largest umbrella civil and human rights coalition encompassing nearly 200 national organizations.
Mr. Henderson is President and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) and Counselor to the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund. The nation’s premier civil and human rights coalition, LCCR encompasses nearly 200 national organizations, including those representing persons of color, women, children, organized labor, persons with disabilities, older Americans, gays and lesbians, civil liberties and human rights interests, and major religious institutions. Under Mr. Henderson‘s leadership, LCCR has become one of the nation‘s most effective defenders of civil and human rights; it currently works on election reform, federal judicial appointments, public education reform, prevention of hate crimes, criminal justice reform, and immigration and refugee policy. He graduated from Howard University and the Rutgers University School of Law (Newark) and was previously Washington bureau director of the NAACP and associate director of the Washington national office of the American Civil Liberties Union. His many awards include the Congressional Black Caucus Chair’s Award; the District of Columbia Bar’s William J. Brennan Award; and the Everett C. Parker Award from the Office of Communication, Inc. of the United Church of Christ.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE CONVENTION
Online Registration Deadline is Midnight on Friday June 1
You may register online for the entire convention package for $345 for ADC members and $385 for non-members. The student rate is $195; you must have a valid student ID and be registered full time to qualify for the student rate. Individual event tickets are also available. The deadline for online registrations is midnight on Friday June 1. Otherwise, onsite registration will be available starting at 9:00 am on Friday, June 8 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel
